What is OMP

Ontario Model Parliament endeavors to educate young adults about provincial parliament by immersing them in a challenging and rewarding political experience in the Ontario Legislature. We are dedicated to developing a greater understanding and appreciation of our province's democracy among secondary school students. We aim at sparking an interest that encourages a lifetime of active participation in our system of governement.

Today we welcome over 200 secondary school students on an annual basis. OMP provides them with the ability to experience parliament as if they were real Members of Provincial Parliament. Delegates decide which party to join, elect a leader, craft party policy, write bills, calculate a budget, and finally, participate in the three day simulation of parliament at Queen's Park. No stone is left unturned during the Simulation in May as delegates debate the issues they have been following, crafting policy on and writing bills about since Elections Day in April
